Traveller's Rant #1.
It's irritating when travellers (with unlimited funds relative to Indians) dress like stinking filthy slobs. So you're on the road? So what. Grab a shower and a decent shirt. Every single rural Indian, without exception, will be wearing a clean, pressed shirt and a clean pair of pants even though they are likely making less than a dollar a day. Its insulting to be parading around like a pretend-beggar when folks struggle, daily, to achieve a fraction of what you have a your fingertips.

YES! Shaun went off about this nearly 10 years ago when we were in Chiapas and "dirty filthy fucking hippies" were "slumming it" around everywhere and just being a general insult to the Mexican people who, as you said, were always in a clean pressed shirt and pants even though they were living in true "poverty".
